It's an interactive, playful course, full of useful information accompanied by hundreds of images in which we'll openly discuss everything about interior design.”

BIO Adrian Balcau
Adrian Balcau is an interior and object designer. In 2013 he opened his own design studio in Cluj-Napoca where he focused on the creation of lighting fixtures, pieces of furniture and various other objects, installations and interiors. His creations were exhibited at multiple editions of Romanian Design Week and many other national and international exhibitions, including Stockholm Design Week.
Adrian is inspired by graphic lines, geometric shapes, the design of the 50s-60s and experimenting with materials in new and original ways. For him design is a permanent game between artistic practice and pragmatism with an undertone of evoking emotion. The spaces designed by him range from private houses, apartments to restaurants, cafes, showrooms, exhibitions and theater sets. He is the co-founder and artistic director of the Cluj Design Days platform that promotes local and national designers since 2015 and is a regular contributor with articles on international design for the British magazine Contemporary LYNX.

Week 1
VISUAL LANGUAGE
Interior design is primarily dedicated to visual stimuli. As in painting, drawing, sculpture and interior design we use a visual language to convey what we propose. Throughout this chapter we will learn to decipher and communicate in interior design using visual language.

Week 2
COLOR
Color is an essential tool in interior design. In this chapter we will explore the ability of color to shape spaces, atmospheres and sensations.

BRIEF HISTORY OF INTERIOR DESIGN
We will browse through a brief illustrated history of interior design.
Week 4
CURRENT STYLES AND TRENDS IN INTERIOR DESIGN
We will talk about some current interior design styles. We will learn to identify styles and references in interior design.
Week 5
INTERIOR DESIGN NOTIONS
Beyond visual stimuli, interior design has a very important practical component of making space more efficient in an intelligent and aesthetic way.

INTERIOR DESIGN EXERCISES
This is a practical course, in which together we will take the first steps towards designing various interior spaces in SketchUp.

↠ Notions of space organization, ergonomic flow, optical correction and optical division of spaces

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF SPACE
The psychological and emotional side of interior design is how to create spaces that really have a powerful impact.

CREATING MOODBOARDS
Mood boards assure us that, from the beginning of the project, the "vibe" of the space we want to outline is very clear. Also, an inspired project is not enough, its presentation must be equally inspired and impressive to ensure its realization.

Week 9
INTERIOR DESIGNERS TO WATCH
We will discuss some iconic and current interior design projects created by outstanding and inspirational interior designers of yesterday and today.
